Jesus Went About Doing and Undoing

Thoughts from Christine H after yesterday's Humber Bridge Listen....

Jesus went about doing good and undoing the works of the devil.

On the walk yesterday we met a lady and her daughter and heard of their commitment to helping people thorough wellness, coffee and cake.

I woke up this morning with these thoughts:

Jesus went about doing and undoing.

Doing good and undoing the works of the devil.

It was the demons who called him out, “I know who you are” and Jesus silenced them. There is a time for revelation and a source.

Do not be quick to compartmentalise works, we are not here to judge. Not here to deride or endorse. We are here to see and rejoice. To recognise the flow of love and healing and restoration and to resonate with every goodness beauty and truth we encounter.

We rejoice in the doing and undoing. We look for the doing and undoing and give thanks for the coming of the kingdom. For every goodness, every truth, every beauty has its source in the dynamic of the Trinity where Father sings ‘You are my beloved Son in whom I rejoice’ and Son echoes back. ‘I love you with all my heart, all my soul and all my mind’ while Holy Spirit accompanies and indwells the music.

We as Christians do not own God, or Jesus or goodness.

Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.” But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.”

The Christological confession, “You are the Christ, the son of the living God” comes when the Spirit reveals, not when the demons do.
