In and around Trinity Market
Lunch and a listen with Christine, Liz and Andy today. In the buzzy busy-ness of Trinity Market. Surrounded by shoppers and workers and Mums and babies and random folk like ourselves. An open and easy place to come and go. New food stalls, old food stalls. One that's been going for 40 years (in different places in the city). A fruit stall still there after 38 years. With all the comings and goings of shops and businesses and ventures, it was good to hear their stories. See all the teapots and fridge magnets in the Key Snacks cafe. Each one brought to them by faithful customers over those 40 years.A mooch down Hepworth Arcade and the joy of the joke shop. There since the mid 80s. And with v little change, within and without.
Good to know that some things can remain. And not be swayed by changing trends. Still v much rooted in the city. And still smiling :-)
Finally, a quick foray down Whitefriargate. "Look up!" says Christine. And we do. At the eclectic mix of architechture. Housing new shops, old shops, no shops. Some with some grandeur still. others a lot more flaky.A thought that came at the start of this adventure: "Notice what's passing, what's lasting." Today, a visual display of that. And a reminder to take heart for the things that do remain. And the part the passing things have played too.
