A Held Community @ Bilton Grange

"We know ourselves in the context of each other."

Wise words today from Kia. At St Philips Food Community. In full flow with the family of volunteers, getting ready for tomorrow's two hours of joyful chaos. When folk will be coming in for food for Christmas, a sit down with friends, a bite to eat, warmth, company, welcome.

Boxes of biscuits, selection packs and puddings, marshmallows in abundance, bread, rice, pasta, fresh veg, tinned hotdogs and ham...

More coming in throughout the morning. Meat and the final fresh things first thing tomorrow.

A feast of generosity and love.

Made possible by relationships. With providers across the city. With local supporters. With a small army of volunteers.

By turning up, week in, week out. By providing a space to be, to train, to grow, to let go, to heal, be real. To laugh, linger, work like the clappers, sit and eat, share food, share struggles, share life. Learn how to be loved and be held.

Kia - "One time we had a porcelean bunny with one ear brought in to us. Today it's the three wise monkeys."

Jacob to Kia (son to Mum) - "How do you do this?"
